(More customer reviews)Here is the contents of an e-mail I received directly from Timex today 5/20/04. This is on a unit that I ordered at the end of last summer. It has never worked correctly. I really wish I had bought something else. By the time they actually get this system working properly it is going to be completely outdated. In the meantime if you already own one of these and you experience the "static" flaw and it crashes as described in the previous review, the one way around this is to run with the recorder so that it does not experience any friction. Some people wear it on an armband with some luck. I managed to get it to record an entire marathon, but only by holding the unit in my hand the entire way. (YEAH, that was fun....)
Notice how at the end of his message he mentions that they "hear from our dedicated Data Recorder users every day" I think what that means is that they are getting COMPLAINTS about these units everyday.
These units were released for sale when they never should have passed through quality control. Now it seems Timex can't figure out how to fix them after months and months.

"I discovered your e-mail and did some research...
I show that T___ S____ created a record for you in our database and
your e-mail was forwarded to Quality Control at our Corporate Offices. I
apologize that we do not have a timely solution for you. You are on
the list to receive a replacement when they become available.
A corrected version was released earlier this year but we discovered
the problem was still not corrected so back to the engineers it went. We
are still waiting. We know how you feel as we hear from our dedicated
Data Recorder users every day.
We hope to have good Data Recorders available in the near future.(...)
